my car caught on fire HELP HELP

well update !! the car is still down the ground from engine to frame is now bigger and better the old one broke the plugs on the passenger side were completly black and the o2 sensor was saying i was lean so i replaced all of that the driver side plugs and o2 seem fine so thats ok the burnt wires going along the valve cover are working great and connected properly so ill fire it up tomorrow to see if that curred the low end misfire i was having... im sure that is all of my problems at least i hope. dam rain prevented me from testing it tonight

university commons apt by the walmart on north atherton !!! go right when u enter the complex u cant miss me my cars on 40 jack stands ill be back wrenching @ 4:30pm !!! as soon as i pick the new plugs up from steve

best bet would probally be to find a entier new engine wiring harness, you have no idea of how much damage could have been done to other parts of the wire that arent so visable.. it shouldnt be to hard to replace it

well its up n running !! i swaped coil packs so i can tell if the packs are bad since the opposite side had the fouled plugs and put a new o2 sensor in ill check the plugs agian tomorrow n replace them w/ new ones then take ti to the track to see if everything is still running strong or i should start to demod and sell the car

You are lucky, my buddy had the same car as me, and his caught fire while it was just sitting there.....well after the insurence claim he now owns a FRC Vette....with his Futral engine.

Just thought I'd add my incident to this thread instead of starting a new one. I had the battery cable to the starter turned around much like previously mentioned in this thread (because it's a V6 cable designed for the other side of the motor) and the insulation rubbed off after a day of driving.

We started the car up in a parking lot, and 10 seconds later there was a ball of fire under the passenger side headers.

The damage consisted of a melted starter harness, singed crank sensor wires, melted battery terminal, and a toasty starter solenoid. Fortunately for me the battery is under warranty and the other parts I picked up on LS1TECH for $65
