Pace Setter Coating
Pace Setter Coating I know many people have had problems with the coating coming off/headers rusting. My car will never seen snow/salt/rain, but if there is still a good chance they are going to rust or something, I will go SS. I have coated Macs now, and have had no problems with them.

i've had my pacesetters on for a little more than a month. today was the first time i've been under my car since the install and i saw little bits of rust in various places. i cleaned it well but i'm not pleased. they went in so easy and fit so well that rusting was the only concern i had. if i ever have to replace them i'm definitely goin with a stainless steel header.

surface rust on headers work just as fine as stainless.
alittle rust wont hurt performance

See, that is the way my car is. So it is hard for me to want to spend the money on Kooks/QTPs. No denying what happens or the quality or the ss headers, but I could put that money toward a FAST/NW setup.
Listen, you were thinking about Pacesetter right? But want to go SS, good decision IMO. You can jump on the Kook's and QTP wagon, they are great headers, high quality, and very expensive. Or you can do like I plan and buy some SS Hooker LTs. I've done some research, they are the same 304 stainless steel as Kook's and QTP and Tbyrne has them on sale for 660$. They're actually cheaper than the coated ones. If you really want to go all out, you can have Tbyrne Jet-Hot coat them for you for 180$. So for 840$ you have SS and coated, for cheaper than Kook's and QTP. Only downside is you only have a choice of a coated or uncoated ORY-pipe. Just my opinion on the situation!
The Hooker Headers will never be the same quality as QTP/Kooks. I had the Hooker LT's and they were junk and look like a 5 year old welded them. The coating flaked off and they rusted. The primary flange always leaked since the welds were ****. Bottom line, you get what you pay for. Coatings are a waste of money and get 304 stainless steel. I went cheap the first time and had to replace the headers again. So, don't make the same mistake I did.
I have to agree the Hooker's will never be the same or better quality as Kook's or QTP, but if you want to go stainless steel and go cheap the Hooker's are your answer. And it is quite true about the quality of the Hooker coating, it is pretty lousey.
I had Hooker LT's with the standard Coating. A year later the rust was sickening for what i paid for em, i then Bought Kooks and sold my Hookers for 350.00 to make up some of the difference. I have a new car now, it will see Kooks Headers.
Had flowtechs on my pewter car. A year later and the coating still looked great. I didn't drive it in the rain unless I got caught out in it unexpectedly. I'm going with coated Pacesetters this round, and am expecting good results. Good luck!!!!
