I got rid of them last weekend and went back to PCV. When I was using them I replaced them. I was using a Mr. Gasket valve cover breather, no way to really clean the foam filter inside.

Are you using the closed breathers, or an open element one like K&N. If you have the open element one just use some soapy water and running water. A dishwater soap works well to carry away the oil and then rinse it good and let it dry. The closed or sealed ones I dont believe you can clean, unless its one those two piece designs that allow you to unscrew the top for removal and cleaning of the filter element and for oil fills. Good Luck

The first 3,000 miles they were fine, but this last 3K during the winter I would have to scoop out all kinds of sludge crap that built up in the oil fill neck. I went through 3 valve cover breathers trying to keep it clean. Don't know if moist conditions worsened this but, what ever it was smelled like fuel bad and I know some of it had to have dripped back into the engine so I said the heck with it, I am going to buy a catch can. I have a filter inline right now.
