Default Borla = Quiet enough?

I have a very loud (big ci) motor in need of a quiet muffler with potential to be opened up (cutout).

I am thinking of putting an elec cutout in line with the open pipe off the borla...which I am sure many people have done.

My question is....
With the cutout completely closed, will the system be quiet?

I have a hooker catback on the car now and its too loud.
Will a borla muffler with the open pipe closed off be much quieter/at all quieter?

If you get the adjustable catback, it's as quiet as stock when closed. Takes 5 minutes to close it, too. Should sound good.

How big is your motor? What's it in?

I run the FLP long tubes and y-pipe, cats, and borla catback at 1/4 open and my car is loud (but sounds "good"). I had the borla full open, 3/4 open, and 1/2 open but it made that raspy "no-cat" popping sound. At 1/4 open or closed it sounds nice and deep. If you have a big inch motor and a nice cam, the borla sounds great. Check out ls1sounds.com in the borla section. There are some nice sound clips with cams, etc.
Hope this helps

Like has already been said, when I cork my Borla up it's very close to being as quiet as the stock muffler.

see if you can find a SLP Dual/Dual used in good condition. they flow incredibly well and are quiet! put a cutout in there and you have your options.

Wow I cannot believe it but I put on the borla with an electronic cutout...omg this thing is still loud with the cutout FULLY CLOSED. It still sounds like a bomb going off when it is started.

Big cube, big cam, monster seems like it cant be STFU!

I dunno what to try now...adding something small to muffle it a bit more between the muffler and the tip????

I want to avoid any restricting pre-cutout of course
