Default best external bolt-ons!

best external bolt-ons! What's up guys! I been reading lots of post and I always see different things. Here is my question, What are the best external-bolt ons out there that make horsepower? Forget how much they cost for a minute! Just as long as they make the best horsepower and are really good products. Someone should make a recipe for LS1's on how to get the best horsepower out of our engines.

Longtube headers are THE mod i think of when i think of effective bolt-ons.

Many people see upwards of 25+ RWHP just by installing longtubes with a catted/catless y-pipe.

personally, i dunno how much power i gained because i never dynoed the car stock, but i dropped SIX TENTHS of a second over my stock manifolds/cats setup.

an ASP crank pulley is also a proven 8-10 RWHP on the LS1.

Magnaflow catback. Straight throw exhaust. Almost 20 hp. I gained 2 tenths in the 1/4 with just this mod. A tsp lid is good for 7-10 hp.

cheap but affective is an ASP pully kit. A set of stepped Kooks 1" &7/8 race headers and Y-pipe- alot more money but VERY affective

QTP LT's
QTP "Q-tec" Dual Cut-Out Y-Pipe
GMMG
ASP Pulley
Air Lid (I prefer SLP)
CAI (like SLP, SSRA, BGRA, or FTRA)
P&P Throttle Body (Jantzer, Shaner, Ron, Bo White etc)
160° T-stat (HP Tuners)

Basic Bolt-ons are all effective^ Will produce you around 360-380 rwhp if you have an M6 and about 350-360 with an A4

Other big boltons are those such as Superchargers, and Turbochargers. Even Nitrous is a bolt ON. Cylinder heads and Intake Manifolds may also be considered bolt-ons as long as suspension

howver the basic bolt-ons i have mentioned seem to produce some of the better numbers on here

Cut all those numbers down by 20-30 rwhp.

I guess it depends on where your car is performance wise. I think things should be done in an order to build power.

1. Lid
2. Catback
3. Headers & Y-pipe
4. TB
5. Pulley
6. Cam
7. Heads
8. Forged bigger engine.

Add SC/Turbo/Nitrous at appropriate levels whenever. Preferably after step 3.

If money isnt an issue, go straight to nitrous. Wtih a 100 shot you will beat on some full bolt-on ZO6's on the freeway. Not at the track, because of traction issues. This isnt a power adding mod, but my favorite mod i did to my car was the tires. Noticed the biggest difference with the tires. And there is no reason to get power if you cant put it to the ground. But do not do tires and nitrous. I think thats a sure fire way to destroy your rear-end.
If you are a bit money conscious. A ported/polished TB, lid filter, cat-back or cutout, ASP pulley, will get you in the neighborhood of around 325-330rwhp on an M6. Results may vary. Whatever you decide on, good luck.

Thanx 4 the info guys. I think I'm going with GMMG exhaust w/ 1 3/4 Kook Long tubes. And a K&N system. You guys are also convincing me to get a pulley too. If I go with supercharger or turbo I would first mess with the internals to get the engine ready for that.

If you have a M6 get some 4.10's, with an auto go 3.73 and a convertor with a cooler. But to do these tires are a must, plus rear end may not hold too long, not to mention the stock clutch

*****, Euro's + Wing gave me 2x that.

Oh, and on a serious note, I'd say do all bolt ons and you wont be dissapointed. I dont know if we consider an intake manifold a bolt on, but the fastx 90 will net you some nice HP. The more air in, the more air out, the more HP, that simple.

I have asked the question of using the FAST 90 and was told several times that we dont need them on our cars until we get to running atleast Heads and a big Cam. The information i got could be wrong, but from what i understand the 90mm is more for highly modified cars and bigger CI engines. And ofcourse for forced induction vehicles. Again, dont quote me, but if you wanna go for intake manifold, i would look into it. Doing a rear-end is a must for you if your going to do full bolt-ons and then try some tires. If you where to get a rear-end, then i would get nitrous before the intake manifold. Less money and i dont know, like 100 and something rwhp more.

qtp high velocity 1-3/4" headers, lid w/some sort of ram air...bg ram air if you have a ram air firebird, lsx 90/90, tb bypass (free), 3" true duals with boom tubes or some sort of free flowing muffler if you don't like the NASCAR sound, others that have nothing to do with the engine but will show higher dyno #'s, light wheels, driveshaft, stock rear, and a good clutch...that is the best money can buy...
