Yeah, but you'll be hot. 
Shouldn't hurt anything. Just put it back on once a month and run the compressor for about 15 minutes to keep all the seal lubed and the freon circulated.

well my compressor is off the car right now. hahaha, besides being a little warm it seems to work for me. hey I got air conditioning 2 by 80, that is 2 windows down by 80 miles per hour.
