Default cutout or Lanes

I have been thinking about getting true duals but i also would like to know if i get dual electric cutouts right after the headers if i run them open on the highway and at the track, if it would warm my car from the loss of backpressure like i have heard before.

It won't harm it if you make sure there is about 18" between the exit of the cutouts and the O2 *sensors*. What happens is outside air contaminates the O2's and makes you run extremely rich, stuck in open loop even. You will NOT harm it due to lack of backpressure though.

BTW: You probably figured it out but I mistyped. 18" from the cutouts to the O2 sensors. Not sure why I wrote extensions.

I've decided i'll just go with a cutout. but i was wondering if there was any performance/sound gain from going with dual cutouts after the headers compared to a single in the I pipe.

i'd think you would have a little more tq in the lower ranges the further from the headers.

and lane seems to be MIA the best i can tell..

lane himself has reported that when dual cutouts are opened before an x-pipe, power is actually LOST.

not to mention the noise!

he was saying after the x would be best... but even then i think its pointless unless they are ran out the back

but he was thinking of going with duals other than a cutout...

yea, Lane isn't in the biz of making exhausts full time anymore. he's got a full time gig doin rims & tires for someone else.

i was thinking about having Lane fab me up a true dual out the back, w/cutouts where the dumps would be. this was a few months ago before he got out, but the cost would have been almost 1500 w/the cutouts i wanted.

i'm happy enough w/my GMMG for half the cost.

well in that case, i'd say dual electrics and open 'em up

edit: get duals would be my advice, but if you're too broke, get cutouts.

although, dual electric cutouts will run you almost as much as a set of duals will lol

1500? was it stainless or some ****?

I was quoted dual 3 out the back for like 900ish
400 just to go over the axle from the dumps...

go with duals. i have dual cut outs now, and i'm now looking into replacing them with true duals. the cut outs are fun and LOUD, but sound like crap at low rpms. also i've had to take them apart and tighten everything up a few times now. the motor tends to pick up some slack and will rattle itself off if you let it. they also leak a bit to, you can really hear it when you drive next to a wall.plus everytime i go to the track they tell me to close them up or get out.

Really? Where do you run? Any idea why they tell you to close them, is it because they are electric? Seems to be the best place there is to run open cutouts.....
