What types of problems if any can I expect with taking off my air/egr system besides the ses light. Have race style headers 2000 t/a m6.

it just cleans up the engine bay, and you loose a little wieght off of your front end is all. There is nothing to be gained with getting rid of the egr/air. You will just get an ses when you pull them as you all ready know.

My buddy with a 2K/A4 claims he lost a little gas mileage after removing his AIR&EGR a couple months ago - EGR related I guess????

Yeah it is egr related, most say that the mileage has gone down after removing the egr system. On the other hand I have read on here that some people have gained mileage after removing it. I still have the egr in my car, so I dont know for sure. There was a good thread about this a little bit ago, I will see if I can find it.

in addition another thread discusses a timing table that is thrown off when you delete your EGR:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=316739

not sure if it affects anything too seriously though.

i've had mine off for quite a while, EGR and AIR. MTI deleted the codes for me, along with my rear O2 sensors for 75 bux.

cleaning crap from under my hood is one my my favorite things to do!

today i took off my valvecovers and MAF and polished the ousides of both. my polished the outside of the throttle body the other day. i'll have pics of them up in a little while

Thanks guy this help out a lot. I will be installing my exhaust header system in a couple of days. Gas mileage doesn't really concern me to much b/c it's not my daily drive car anyways but still good to know. Just looks like I will just need to tune it to get that light off. Thanks again.

when i bought my car, there was about 1/2" of dirt covering every square inch under the hood. i mean EVERYTHING was dirty and dusty, it's come a long way. !EGR and !AIR were some of my favorite mods you can kinda-sorta see the polished valvecovers, but you can see the throttle body pretty well.

I haven't noticed any difference in mileage after removing the EGR and AIR back in December. I still get ~16/26mpg just like before.

that's a negative. unfortunately the HPP3 can't delete anything. I think the predator can though but your name implies you have a 98 and I don't think they make a programmer for our stock PCM. If I'm wrong, somebody correct me; I don't know much about the predator tuner.

well i've washed it a few times with regular car soap, but then i got after it with some simple green and a nice long bristled WHEEL brush. the wheel brushes have soft bristles and they are long enough to snake around into all the nooks and crannies. it really started to shine after that treatment.

then i rinsed it off really well with straight water, then hooked up my mr. clean auto-dry thing and used the spot free under the hood.

if your's is REALLY gunked up, i'd recommend using the "Gunk" brand "Foamy Engine Brite". it can be found at advanced for a couple bucks and totally kicks *** on really dirty stuff.

i wish i had taken a picture of my passenger side fender, i did the hidden wires mod a few weeks ago and it really made it look nice. plus, since my car doesnt have the ASR/TCS module on that fender, its realy clean

as for all the plastic/wireloom, my buddy let me borrow this stuff called "in and out" spray, it smells like foot spray when you're putting it on, but it works BADASS. it wont hardly stick to paint and bare metal either. if you look at the plastic on my cowl, you can really see how well it blackened the plastic.

you can find it at http://www.adamspolishes.com in the dressings section. i think jason found it a little cheaper somewhere else though.

here's what it looks like if you ever come across it...

Just deleted my AIR/EGR when adding headers. MPG went up, car runs great and have had no problems. I saw an increase of about 2 MPG. No tuning done as of yet.

Deleted my EGR and AIR when I installed my Pacesetters, not a problem aside from the SES which I took care of via Tunercat. Cars runs terrific with the same gas milleage as before.
