Default HOOKER HEADERS LTs

I have a 98 T/A LS1 and i was wondering if i had these headers installed, Woul i still be able to use the cats? I was told that Hooker didnt have the option of having cats installed but others do. Im confused as why i wont be able to have them installed. And will i be able to use the cats that it still has? BTW they are the original cats too......

thanks..

Why do you want cats? Even if you must use cats you probably don't want to use the stockers. It used to be that nobody made a Y-pipe for hooker/jet-hot/pacesetter that had enough clearance for cats. You can now get a catted Y-pipe from TSP that should work.

I drive the car everyday all year round. I live in chicago and its illegal to not have cats. I think that i might have to go for the emissoins test soon. I dont really have big plans for the TA since i drive it daily. Thats why i wouldnt want to put some good ****. Hey i can still smoke them crapstangs.

Whats the part number for the TSP?

Longtube headers are illegal, cats or not. They will fail a visual inspection if the tech knows what he is looking at and cares.

I am not sure, but I think you have OBDII plug in diagnostic tests. If so, you can still pass. I passed with LT's, no cats, dumped duals, no AIR and no EGR.

No such thing. It is federally illegal to move the cats from their stock positions. EIther it's not truly legal or they aren't long tubes. Sorry.

They can't be relocated because they take longer to heat up and begin working and do not get as hot.

Please use the eidt button if your last post is still the most recent.
I don't know what the fine is. I know that you can be forced to comply with regulations if order to have your vehicle licensed/registered. It's not just a fine, it's fix it or your can't drive it on the raod anymore.
