power differences between catback and true dual set ups

Default power differences between catback and true dual set ups

I was told by a whole bunch of ppl on my local board that you will lose power on a non cammed car if you go to a true dual set up do to lack of backpressure.. even if I run 3in to an x and 2.5 out to stock tail pipes.. I called BS on it and decided to go to the experts


is this true or not?


this was coming from ford guys who are angry that I sold the fox..


is this in anyway shape or form possible?


my set up will consist of PaceSetter Longtubes 3inch piping to custom X then 2.5 out to my stock tail pipes on a 98 t/a...


with this set up I'm also expecting around a 25rwhp increase.. is this possible?

They are full of
25 rwhp from the headers and duals? Totally possible. Duals shine in under the curve power. You should see better low/mid range and maybe slightly higher peak than a Y-pipe setup.
Oh yeah, much better sound too.

I had a noticable gain when I went with True Duals over my ORY & Magnaflow Cat back. It also feels as though it has more lowend torque.
Just go for it, you won't regret it!

Kooks LTs, catted-y, Hooker cat-back = 331 RWHP, 347 RWTQ

Kooks LTs, no cats, True duals, 3" into the x-pipe, 2.5" after out the back = 340 RWHP, 356 RWTQ

Tell them they are incorrect.

i had the same setup as you did, LT's, ory, & magnaflow. now i have the lt's, 3in duals, and flo-pro twister mufflers, and not only does it produce more power, like everyone says, it sounds a lot better.
