i personally didnt mod the car but the car came w/ an aftermarket lid, so GM put in a stock MAF which doesnt bother me at all. i wish you would have mentioned that loong ago... this problem really gave me hell. for general knowledge, how do you test if an MAF is good or not? i remember looking at the wire strands inside the sensor and they looked OK so that was the extent of my detection into the MAF. thanks though!

My girlfriends 3.4 V-6 beast is doing the same thing on her 2001 Monte Carlo. Turn the key to start, starts up but dies. Hold foot on gas pedal, the car will run but as soon as you let off the gas, the car will die. I was thinking IAC or TPS but was going to check fuel pressure and disconnect the MAF to see if it will go into "limp home mode".

So far this is what I've done:
1) test fuel pressure - good, 50psi
2) disconnect MAF - good, still stalls
3) scanner - good, other than low signal input from MAF and TPS...but that's from disconnecting.
4) calling parts store for IAC price, I've seen this issue before on Lumina's.
