I had that vacum leak like sound when I forst put mine on. I filled the catchcan with a little bit of oil and the sound went away. My drain plug at the bottom was also tight.
I used teflon tape so I could turn the plastic fitting to the dirsction I wanted the hoses to point.
Screwing the bracket to the catchcan was difficult. The screw heads are inside the circular bracket.

Looking at the pictures.. it looks like you have taken the PCV out. IMO, it should stay in. Here's what a 99+ PCV system should look like. http://www.ls1howto.com/content/info...kpcvsystem.jpg
The PCV valve is located in front of the intake on the passengers side, held in place by a ground strap to the coolant tube. Yours looks to be missing...
I ran my can straight off the stock setup. The only thing removed from the stock PCV system was the small elbow that attached to the intake neck.
I ran the top hose of the can coming off the tip of the PCV and the side hose come off the intake neck.
