Is the 3.5 inch mufflex overkill enough to hurt?
Is the 3.5 inch mufflex overkill enough to hurt? I have an 02 z28 m6 w/ only 3600 miles. Just brought it home last week. I really like the hideaway mufflex 3.5 catback and was wondering if it would be ok on a full exhaust only car. I plan on having a lid and catback for several months before going with some kooks longtubes in the spring of next year. I realize the larger diameter is way overkill until a cam and heads but I like the idea of having it on there in case a cam finds its way in there. Will i still see the standard 10 ponies?

I wouldn't think that 3.5 would be overkill, it's good to have it there in case of heads/cam later down the road. Where are you located? I have a 3.5 Mufflex on my car now that I am thinking of getting rid of, it's the single exit and I have a Dynomax Ultra Flo round muffler. I also have the flowmaster muffler that I will throw in with the exhaust.

You should be fine. You might lose a tiny bit on the low end with the extra air mass to get moving, but nothing to worry about.
Duals are a whole different setup, but I ran 3" duals on a stock, NA engine and made great midrange.
