Ignition problem..?
Ignition problem..? Ok....i have a 2000 Z28. You all kno the little light on the dash that says "security"? Ok well mine comes on from time to time...i never really paid that much attention to it b/c i thought it was supposed to do that...Well here recently, whenever the light comes on...it stays on for about 5 minutes or so....and when i go to start my car and the light is on....i turn the key and it does absolutely nothing...no clicks, no sounds, no nothing....I usually can wait about 5 minutes untill the light goes off and my car will start right up no problem.....but today when the light went off i tried to start it and the light came on again and it wouldnt start....so i waited about 5 more minutes until the light went off again, then i tried again....same thing...light came back on and no started car....so i tried it one more time....and finally on the third try it started....Does anyone know what my problem is???? its really getting irritating and i dont really feel like paying a mechanic hundreds of dollars for him to tell me what some of you might be able to....HELP PLEASE!!!

Isn't that what happens if the "chip" in the key goes out? If that doesn't work, your ignition switch could be bad. I think my parents' car did that once.
