Also, is the switch a full on/full off switch? the reason i'm asking is because i want to replace the switch that comes with the cutout with a GM factory switch...and put it where the traction control button is supposed to be at, just to the right of the fog light switch. these GM switches are full on/full off.

Another thing...would it be possible to install the cutout before my cat, in order to gain slightly more power?

thanks!
When I had inspection done, the cutout had to be closed to meet noise requirements.

The best place to install a cutout to gain the most power on the exhaust is right before the bend over the axle, I read about that in GMHP mag.

They're push and hold to make contacts. Release to stop. 2 way switch.

Use a full on/off switch and the motor will bind, buzz then burn itself out.

Alright, thanks. Also, how do you know when the door is fully open or fully closed. Does the switch have LED's?

If you have any questions about our product feel free to give us a call. Our electric cutout and our header have proven the most powerful setups on LS1s. Check out our article in theis months GMHTP mag.

No, it dosent' have LED's, but you can tell when it's open or closed from noise. Eve at idle.

My bad, I wasnt really sure. Someone above had posted something saying his DMH had LED lights, does anyone here know whether or not the cutouts would pass the visual inspection for California smog as long as they were closed? California is pretty strict about this kind of stuff along with a handfull of other states.

How loud your car will sound with the cutout open depends on were you place it. Over the axle on a stock engine is not to bad. When I installed mine and the car was stock I just ran with it open all the time. With the H/C I put on the electric. I still run with it open most of the time but it is nice to have the stealth mode handy.
As you move the cutout up the exhaust the sound gets very loud. Some setups sound very raspy also but it is a matter of personal choice.
I would just get the capped one at the axle for now and if you don't like the sound you can just leave it closed without too much expense. If you really like it you can just leave it open and close it up for inspection,
There is definatley a wow factor with it. Neat to pull up to a light beside some ricer and watch his face as the muffled chev turns into a noisy beast.

For most it would be too loud. I'm sure someone is running with that but I would think for most people it would be a race only setup.
I have an m6 so it is pretty easy to control the revs. Friends with the same setup but with an automatic don't like to leave it open because it is harder for them to control noise/rev's.
Moving the cutout to the back of the Y is better for performance then the over the axle where the exhaust gases have to pass through the pinched down 3" that runs over the axle.
