I didn't think you had to remove the oil filter for any header installs. My Jet-Hot install I removed the steering shaft and oil diverter plate. However, I just helped a buddy install QTP's a couple weeks ago (with a lift, for once) and we just could not get the driver's side header to go. Took the oil filter off and voila, it went in. Probably only lost 1/8-1/4 quart of oil.
You can do the install yourself on jack stands. DO IT. It's one of the things that is absoultely NOT worth paying somebody to do if you have the means yourself. Get a second set of hands for the actual installation part though. It's best to have one person pushing them up from the bottom while the other stands over the top and lines it up to get a coupe of the header bolts in.
Edit: I didn't vote in the poll because to me the choice of cats or no cats is determined by the cat-back. If you don't run cats that will limit your selection of cat-backs that won't sound bad. I'd vote to go with an ORY and Hooker cat-back.
