Default Thoughts on Pacesetter longtubes

I have a deal on a set of slightly used Pacesetter longtubes + off road y-pipe. Just wanted to know what everyone's experience with them has been?

I have had good luck with mine. They are good headers for the money. The fit decent and don't hang too low.

I haven't had any problems with mine. I've had them about 8 months. They are showing a little signs of rust on the collectors but thats it. I will say if I had it to do over I would have went with stainless but they are great for the price plus I didnt have to cut or grind anything. If they still look good and you are getting a good deal on them I say go for it.

You can listen to the whole debate on SS versus Mild steel, or you can save yourself some dough and get a proven header. Yes, they are prone to rust eventually, some sooner than others, but they produce good numbers and they were a breeze to install. Granted, they aren't as good as SS, but I would rather deal with rust on a header that will still last years, and put that extra 500 bucks I saved into something else. By no means do I mean any disrespect to the guys that swear by and run the SS, we all know they are better. But for the price, Pacesetter can't be beat!

SEARCH. There will be LOTS of threads full of just what you are looking for.

If it's a good deal and they are in okay shape I would say go for it, but I see loudmouth in your sig. Do you plan to have cats welded into the Y-pipe, to switch cat-backs, or to have a raspy hick pickup truck sounding exhaust? Just making sure you know what you are getting into with ORY and loudmouth.....

I had the loudmouth and sold it when I bought headers, going with true duals. Couldn't be happier.

Edit
My $.02: Oh yeah, be carefull with that SLP MAF. A lot of people have problems when messing with MAFs. Unless you are SURE that you/your tuner knows what to do with it put the stocker back on.

They are great headers for the money... they do the trick for me just fine. And if you get a good coating put on them, you won't have to worry too much about rust.

I love my Kooks SS LT's w/ catted Y-pipe. But, if you don't have the $ for Kooks, get the pacesetters. We did use a set of them on an old mustangs a friend of mine had years ago and they worked well. lasted longer than the stang did. RIP.

If you can deal with them rusting for the price you are paying, go for it.

They should be fine... mine sits pretty damn low in the front and as long as you're careful going over obvious obstacles, you should be alright.

I've got them on my car. Love them, especially for the price. The way they sit, I wouldn't have any qualms about lowering my car. I say go for it!
