Default exhaust and tune

from what i am reading about getting a header back exhaust setup in my 98 T/A i am going to NEED a tune afterwards or the car wont run quite right, is this the case? thanks.

No, you don't need a tune, the car will run fine, although a tune won't hurt, as the car is going to run really rich, are you deleting cats and air and egr, if so then you will need a tune to clear the code. other than that unless you are in really high altitiude or some thing you should be fine, IMO

well i will eliminate the cats, but have o2 sims, and i will keep the egr and air systems., darylcb i see that you have pacesetter LT's how do you like them?? that is what i am thinking of going with.

I think you are the same guy from another board. if so.. i will post my answer here as well.

I needed a tune after my mac midlengths and y pipe. My car ran slugish and after tune.. it drove great.

If you are getting headers and cant go Kooks.. check out QTP

not agian. If its the same guy im thinking about that lives here in houston. He made an appology to the whole texas section saying it was his troubled little brother that kept annoying everyone while he was at work.

What will the altitude do to affect the car once you delete everything. I'm at close to 2,500 above sea level, and I havent had any problems with my car. 1998 T/A with LT's, with no AIR/EGR. I was just wondering what you heard. I'm still looking for a place to tune my car.

lol what do you guys mean "blackbeast" I am just on 3 forums, and alot of the people are different from forum to forum so if i have a ?? i just ask it on the different forums, that way i get more responses from more people. I figure it's just a way to see what more people think, what the hells wrong with that??

back to the thread, i got a mail order tune as the car was off the road for the header install. so i never really saw the difference between headers with tune, and headers without a tune. some guys bash the mail order but i think it really helped out over the stock tune. for now you really have nothing to worry about not having a tune yet because your not running cats, if you were there was a chance of washing out or blowing out the cats, aftermarket pieces of garbage. i say run the exhaust on stock tune and see how you do, if that car is running rich you will know it
