Question hooker or borla?

which would be better in the long run? would I be better off to go with a full borla adjustable(used $325), a new hooker cat back($262 advance special), or use my money for better things and go with a hooker replacement muffler($72 advance special) and weld it in my existing exhaust system($30)?

Do you have LT's? ORY? Catted y? If its still stock and you are planning to keep it stock go with the borla. If you plan on LT's and maybe an ORY in the future go with the hooker, the borla will be very loud and very raspy.

get the Borla. it makes a little more power and you can put the closed plate in if you want/need it quiet.(Hooker LT's, no cats, and Borla with the closed plate in; people were asking if the car was a V6)

I have had both on my car and the Borla is way louder than the hooker. The Borla was louder even with the stock manifolds and cats than my Hooker is with longtubes and ory. The borla was flattened out a little bit where it went over the axle, the Hooker is smooth. The Borla is stainless but the bolts, and bracketry are not and they will rust. If you put ory on it then the Borla will rasp with the open plate. I guess you get rid of some of it by the closed plate but that kinda defeats thepurpose of having dual outlets.

Im just gonna have to say get the Hooker. It is priced well and it has a "good" sound and not just loud.

I had the hooker and my car sounded stock with the flp's and ory. I sold it and got I borla and now I love it. Loud outside the car and quiet inside it. There is rasp with both, it is just louder with the borla

Borla + ORY = ***. I can't tell you how many people I've known that sold their Borla for Hooker catback in the past year alone.

how sleeper are non stock tips? plus you'll here it. in this day and age, not too many people will be fooled. the few that are, probably aren't worth racing, anyway. hooker, imo is loud enough NOT to be sleeper, so might as well get the borla

every1 posting on my "sleeper" comment, its not about being a sleeper, its about lessing the rasp and being queiter, i personally LOVE the loud of hooker LTs, ORY and hooker CB, but thats just me, its also 1/2 the price of the borla (2 less horses or so for 1/2 the price, who would bother)

I would suggest the hooker catback. Its quiet at idle and loud enough at WOT. If you want some extra power and alot more loudness just get a cutout in the ory. LTs + ORY + cutout = Loud as HELL!! I only close it for lond distance highway driving.

if a person was going to make a sleeper system wouldn't it be better to use just a replacement muffler because the rest of the pipes flow pretty good from the Y back.

I'd get the borla system over the hooker system for sure. I'm not really impressed with the products I've received from hooker or the customer service.

I got the Hooker cat-back a couple thousand miles ago and love it to death. When I got the car it had the original exhaust and, man, was it full of holes. I had to keep welding patches on it to make it last until I could swing getting a new setup. It was LOUD and sounded great, though.

When I got the Hooker it quieted down considerably and it took me a little while to get used to it. I took a trip from Omaha to Rapid City and back and it was wonderful. You could hear it rumbling in the background but it didn't intrude on conversation or tunes. It doesn't drone at any speed and the design and materials are first rate, I think. It was a breeze to put on. I had to alter the driver side hanger a little but that only required changing the angle on the piece that slips into the rubber and turning the mount around to bring it slightly more inboard.

In short, I really like it.

Why spend 600 dollars on a borla when you can just cut your muffler off and have the same result? It's a straight pipe, thats it. The plate with the smallest hole sounds identical to the no plate at all once you have ORY..... sounds like total garbage. And why would you put the closed plate in it and have a dummy right tip and everything coming out the right side. Total junk system once you remove the cats.
