Exclamation install help - in a rush

ok, i have oil temp and water temp gauges i need to install. for the water temp, im told to just unscrew the plug thats above the #8 cylinder on the pass. head, and then replace it with the sender provided with the gauge. correct? i realize im going to loose coolant, so just keep some handy i guess.

for the oil temp...now i get lost. is it plug and play? ive heard i can put the sender above the oil filter. but how? i know someone else has done it here, so someone has to know how to do it. i really dont wanna pay someone to do this, as its kinda trivial.

My autometer water temp sensor needed an adapter to fit where your talking about. They have them at auto barn. By the way, its a bitch to get at it. I got it from under the car.

I can't help you with the oil temp, sorry.

i know a site, but the guy got a special one made, or you can buy all kinds of adaptors and make it work. but its got to be simpler than that.

http://www.autobarn.net/accessories1.html I want to say its one of those but I can't remember the size. Do a search on ls1tech and you should be able to find out which one you need. Thats how I found it at least. I bought a kit for like $14 that came with a few sizes and then I had to figure out which one it was. I can't find the kit now but I'm sure its there somewhere. Sorry I can't be more helpful but it will sure beat getting that bolt out and then finding out its the wrong size with all the coolant spilling on you. lol. Good luck.

take that piece off, drill it out (dont know the correct drill size yet) and then just use a 1/8 in pipe tap to tap it

oh, ok. im pretty sure thats all you have to do.

the plug in the passenger side head for the water temp sender, is the same size as a spark plug, right? so if i goto the parts store, i need to find an adaptor that, on the male end it the same size as a spark plug, and the female end will be the same size as the autometer sender

not sure about the size but that seems close. you could always pull the plug out and go to the store with it, that will give the coolant time to drain some before you get in there so it wont get on you. but im not sure of the exact size, if you call autometer they will tell u
