Default Thoughts on my fabbed true duals...

I won't be completing this until about September/October, but I am wanting to have my own 3" true dual exhaust fabbed at a muffler shop. Here's what I plan on buying...

-Pacesetter LT coated headers ($375)
-Two SLP LM Bullets ($140; $70 each)
-Magnaflow X pipe ($85)
-Two Magnaflow high flow cats ($120; $60 each)
-Megs stainless steel angle cut exhaust tips, style "c" ($73; $36.50 each)

The muffler shop will install it and supply the exhaust tubing. How much do you guys think this will cost to install? It's about $800 with the parts and I'm thinking about $700 or so to install (headers and everything). What do you guys think?

What do you guys think of this setup? I want a badass sounding true dual setup, and this is one that I think will be. How loud do you guys think it will be with the cats? Thanks.

If I was you I would install the headers myself to save some cost. Are you going over the axle or dumps?
$70 bucks for SLP bullet mufflers is over priced. I would look into Magnapacks or dynomax bullets. Why are you going with cat's? True Duals are not legal on these cars to pass a visual, there is no rasp to try and get rid of, and the high flow cats will still cause a rear O2 code unless deleted. Just some food for thought.
All in all I think you have a real solid plan.

The slp bullets are way overpriced IMO. Sure they're stainless, but other than your tips, nothing else is. I'd go with some Sweet Thunders also. I had those on my old TD's and they sounded much better than bullets IMO. You can get aluminized, 18" lenght, 3" OD and 2.5" Baffles for about 47 bucks I think (each).

Also, I've heard very good things about the Dr. Gas x-pipes. You might want to look into that as well.

BTW, the "search" button is your friend. There are plenty of custom TD setups around here that you can get ideas from. Also check out ls1sounds.com to hear how some setups sound.

What site sells the Sweet Thunders? Also, what about the Dr. Gas X? Thanks.

If you car is lowered or you are planning on lowering it you can forget about the TSP TDs. I less than six inches of ground clearence with them. Just my two cents

I agree. While TSP makes a quality product at a great price, the ground clearance just isn't there. There are a few guys on here that have had great success with them, but many more (like myself) that have sacrificed a good bit of clearance. I don't think there is a pre-fabbed system out there that will fit as good as a custom setup done by a good shop.

Arrow Thoughts on this TD setup...

I posted about a week ago regarding this. Some told me to go with a Dr. Gas X, some with Sweet Thunder bullets. But I wanna go the cheapest route possible when fabbing my TD's. Some people told me to dish the cats, but I want them on there to get rid of drone, rasp and to at least sound legal. What do you guys think of this setup though?

-Pacesetter coated LT's ($375)
-Dynomax bullets ($72; $36 each)
-Magnaflow X ($85)
-Magnaflow cats ($120; $60 each)
-Megs "C" tips ($73; $36.50 each)
-12" & 24" o2 extensions ($45)
-Total ($770)

I'd like to hear lots of feedback please, because I want to set this up right. How will this setup sound? How will it perform? How much will it cost to have a muffler shop assemble and weld exhaust tubing all the way back? I don't want a pre-axle setup. Thanks.

Ditch the cats. You don't have to worry about rasp with true duals. If you go all the way out back, you also won't have to worry much about sounding legal, they won't sound much louder than a catback without cats.

Bullet mufflers = drone town

By ditching the cats, you can swing the sweet thunders and still save money.

IMO, cats are pointless with true duals and LTs. You won't pass emissions either way, and if you go out the back you won't have to worry about the smell or rasp.

BTW, trust me on the drone part. My TSP setup came with bullets originally and they droned like a ****. Put the sweet thunders on there and you'll thank me for it.

Which would be better? Sweet Thunder bullets or SLP LM2 bullets? I think I'm going to ditch the cats. I want bullets that don't sound like Nascar with a high pitched tone. I want that american muscle sound...low, deep, throaty rumble. Which would give me that sound I crave? lol

From what I've heard and have been told... Sweet Thunders will give you that sound. The sound clips I've heard of TD setups with them sound awesome.

Chambered exhausts are pretty much as American muscle as it gets. I would go with the Sweet Thunders if that's the sound you're looking for. Be prepared... it's going to be loud.

Avoid the SLP LM2 bullet it is nothing more than a Dynomax bullet that is designed to slip in and out of place so it can be modular, you are basically paying more for modular function which is completely useless to you.

www.ls1sounds.com has tons of true dual samples to listen too.

IMO I like the flowmaster 1 chamber and sweet thunder set ups the best.

Couldn't have said it better myself. The LM2 bullet IS a dynomax bullet. Just fancier. The sweet thunder is what you're looking for, trust me.

For the love of God order them already. You'll forget any doubts you may have had about them. They sound absolutely amazing. They will be LOUD with a supersized 'L'. But not an obnoxious loud, more like a 'what the hell was that, damn that was awesome, now my panties are soaking wet cause I wanna bone that guy in the cool Camaro' LOUD (at least that's what the ladies tell me)

May the force be with you
