Default Headers Y-pipe

Is it worth it to spend the cash on a Y-pipe made by one of the performance companies or to just spend $30 on the Flowmaster merge Y and have the rest fabbed for like $35 from a local exhaust shop? Any suggestions on this? Every dollar counts for me right now.

if you have a good exhaust shop around you that you trust to make a good peice. then buy the merge and print off a copy of a QTP/Mufflex setup or anything you like and have them mock it...no reason in spending the doe if you aint gotta or if your money is tight...just my .02

The main difference is going to be that a shop will have to custom bend all the pieces. Make sure they've got a mandrel bending machine. Also, make sure that they get it to fit up CLOSE underneath your car! The Mufflex has 2 pieces that make up the dirver's side, 1 piece for the passenger, and the Y itself. It is very adjustable, so it fits up nicely.

In fact, when I went back to Thunder Racing for tuning, they said that mine was one of the tightest fitting setups they had ever seen. i was even able to get the 4" Y-piece to go on top of the tunnel brace so I could bolt it back on!

We have some pretty good exhaust shops here around town but no one has a mandrel bender because they say they cost way too much. I was just going to have a shop do it here in town that does all the true dual setups in Memphis.
