Most will recommend the NGK TR55s for plugs & stock wires are good. I used this set up for a year with good results until switching to colder plugs for nitrous.

I also recommend the TR55's. I am running MSD 8.5's with great results. Some have had bad experiences with Taylor wiresets. The stock wires are good also. How many miles on the vehicle? That would be my deciding factor on the wires.

Another vote for TR55's and I also have MSD 8.5's. I had Taylors and when I pulled out the wires to change them 4 of the 8 disconnected from the wires and the connector was left on the plug.

Stock wires are fine. Your best bet is either stock replacements, MSD supercondcutors (what I have) or the more expensive of the Taylor wires.

Probably 90% of LS1tech members run TR55 plugs, and the rest run TR6's. (nitrous)

thanks guys, TR55s it is!!! the car only has 17,000 miles on it...
so i guess im fine with the factory wires???

on a side note, do the MSD wires stand up to heat or do i need to put sleeves on them when i do my headers???

Factory wires are fine, they are harder to get on and off compared to my wires though. I have Taylor Thundervolts on my car and think they are really nice, with no problems, and they look good. However, they are not necessary.

i dont like the way the MSD's clip. sometimes its a guessing game, and you have to do it twice, IMO.

I run the tr55's also. You probably want to gap them to .055. Stock gap is .060. I run the Taylor 10.4mm wires and have not had any problems at all.

Guys, I just read two stories in CHP claiming 15 hp from a wire change. Also granitelli (however you spell it), claims it in their ads. Don't know if it is true(sounds too good); I just stumbled onto this thread looking for info. Aparently stock wires have 800 ohms resistance and these new wires are less than an ohm. Don't know just passing it along.

tr55's and moroso ultra 40 wires, the msd wires i had didnt like the header heat i dont think, put the new wires on the car and there was a good difference in how the car ran, lot better. i wont go back to msd after seeing this. plus moroso is the best fit i have seen, for headers and they come with heat shields. ive got a thread ill post pics in tonight if i remember, kinda expensive but it was worth it IMO after the difference i saw and the fitment

Umm . . . maybe if they had unplugged some of the stock wires first. If there was a horsepower gain from swapping wires, it is extremely minute. chp claiming 15hp

Then you didn't take them off right, you can't pull on the wire, you have to squeeze the boot and pull it out. Done correctly every time they will be fine, but it is really hard to do for some of the wires. Taylor even sells a tool for properly removing their wires, so they are at least aware that it is a problem.

thought moroso claims lowest resistance of 40 ohms per foot and msd is 50 ohms per foot, no way only one ohm on those wires. i need to get a stock wire and test it and get the new one and test it, check the msds out as well

my car has about 40k miles, but I don't really know what you mean about heat. And I plan on changing the plugs in a week or two.

headers, if you dont have anything to protect the wires they can get hot and become dry and fall appart to an extent

I just read that article too, p.89 and 90 of Sept. '05 CHP. Stock wires were measured at 958 ohms and the Granatelli's were measured at 0.5 ohm. After the swap, the Granatelli's made an additional 15.3 hp and 17.3 lb-ft of torque, at the wheels. Seems hard to believe.
