Default FLP Header Clearance

I'm looking at buying a set of used FLP headers for a good price and had a question. I've heard that u need to grind down ur oil drain plug because of clearance issues. Is that necessary or is it really that much of a pita to remove the drain plug without grinding on it.

Thx Rusty

I have the FLP set up and the drain plug is a bit long with them. I got a shorter one and no more problems.

I went to Wal-Mart and had them change the oil and the person running the auto department, told me about it (even though I never had a problem with it) and said they didn't want to run into any problems trying to pull the stock one out. So they took it out and replaced it.
You could get it at any auto parts store. Find one that matches the stocker and look for a shorter one.

Thx for the info. Do u like the FLP's and is there any ground clearance issues with a slighty lowered car. I got a set of koni single adjustables on the way and i heard they lower the car about 3/4 of an inch.

Thx Rusty

Be careful if you get a different plug. If the threads arent the same you will have an oil leak.

No problem with my plug. Its close, I use a box wrench now instead of a socket. Mines not lowered yet. 3/4" shouldn't be a problem. You still have to be careful, but it shouldn't be bad.

I love my FLP's. As far as ground cleareance, I have no issues but I am stock height and have no intention on lowering it.

I had FLP's on my WS6 with a custom offroad y-pipe and never had any problems with the drain plug. Like previously mentioned, I did have to use a box end wrench instead of a socket. I loved them though...best headers I've ever had!

I actually just had this problem this past weekend...
I put a screw driver in there and pryed the tube back a little. Not the best way but I didn't have much choice..

I'm gonna go buy a OEM plug and just grind off a 1/4" or so...should fix it. This way I don't have to worry about gettin the wrong threaded plug.

Thats the only issue with the headers though. It's tough to get the cats off though whe you want to add the OFPs.

A large pry bar is what I use to change oil.

My FLPs banged the floor boards a BUNCH !!!!
I got a poly transmission mount and it stopped, however.
