Default NGK TR55 and TR5 ?

I have this feeling like I'll have to drive straight back to the parts shop... are the TR55 and the TR5 (stock number 2238) the same plug? I would say no, but what do I know? the guy promised they were the same plug. But I want another opinion before putting them in my ls1...

thanks

They are basically the same "plug." But the TR55 is gapped at .050. The TR5 is gapped at .035. Stock gap is set at .060. Both of the NGKs will work for stock heat range. You should only gap approx. .010 from what the factory sets the plug at.

You don't necessarilly have to exchange them, but I would definately re-gap them to .045.

thanks for the info Rob, good to know, I researched a little too and apparently the tip is different.... already took them back. the parts dude says "no, those are right I just looked them up again - oh.... wait" he says, and walks into the back and is back in 5 seconds with TR55s.... "sorry" well I say **** happens and tell him not to worry about it. just another example of why I trust no one on my car...

Yeah you can never trust most of the parts guys. At least not from my experience. Come to think of it, the TR5 may be gapped at .039; TR55 @ .059. I just checked Thunder Racing and they list .035/.050 though.

Just check and make sure they are gapped correctly before you install them.
