Default Header Installed, Need QUICK help!

hey guys,

i'm going to make this short so I can go back to finishing up the rest of the exhaust. I'll beable to check this post at the garage i'm working on the car at, BUT i wont beable to post a reply. I dunno why, the computer and internet explorer are really old POS's.

so try and give me as much help as you can, w/o needing a response from me lol

so I have my Hooker LT's installed. I am now TRYING to put the O2 sensors that screw into the bung near the collector. The bungs both face towards the outside of the car, not towards the tranny.

the passenger side went in no problems

drivers side will not even start to thread. I am hitting the fuel lines b/c the O2 sensor is so long. I even removed the fuel line heat shield and nothing, still hits.

hell it might even be hittin on the frame, but i think its just the fuel rails

whata I do? i tried pulling the header to one side, no luck

now i'm really getting made b/c i wanted to fire the car up today

heeeellllpppp

I have not done headers on an ls1 but this might work i dont know.Take the crossmember that holds up the transmission and lossen it up or even take it off to let the tranny hang down. This should lower the rear of the engine and tip your collectors down enough to thread it in.give it a shot maybe it will work.

i droped the tranny

O2 went in

but i can't raise the tranny up w/o smashing the fuel lines!!! ahhh

theres gotta be a trick, i mean i shouldn't have to buy a new O2 sensor, or a different one i mean, that is shorter?

heh

easier said than done, headers are already on the car, plus they are SS and thats a PITA to weld

these f***ers should fit

plus i had to undo 2 bolts right above the oild filter and take this metal piece off to try and get the header in, well the one bolt snaped when I tried to put it back on...so hopefully i can get a new bolt for that. if someone can tell me the part number for those 2 bolts I will order new ones on monday, unless the parts store has some

It sounds like the bung was welded higher than it should have been. There shouldn't be any clearance issues for the o2 sensor.

i called the engineer who designed them (i have great connections lol) and he said they should not have a clearance problem at all. So I snapped a couple shots of it, and I'll hear from him on monday.

i'll be sure to let you know what i find out
