No, it seals all the way around the intake blocking off anything from coming in except outside air. As far as I know anyway. I could be wrong.

yea but it's not a big deal... just a different type of foam gasket material..

and your speaking of "cold-air" sealing... i meant sealing in general to keep crap from getting sucked into the engine... a lot of guys have issues with the rear of the lid not seating properly on the filter so dust/dirt can get sucked up in there... with the volant there is no lid so there's no issue with that...

The pics above of the red WS6 is my car. The Volant box seals off the hot air from the engine bay and draws in outside air through the nostrils. As I mentioned in my previous post... the Volant was made to fit the non-Ram Air hood. If you want to seal the box to a Ram Air hood, you have to beef up the gasket on the Volant box. As you can see on my box, I went to Lowe's and picked up a 6' length of dark grey colored copper pipe foam insulation. It cost about $3, comes split down the middle and has adhesive strips on the split. You place the 6' length of foam on the box, get it fitted properly and cut off the excess. Couldn't be easier. And... it looks almost like it comes that way. My box is completely sealed all the way around and is cut off from any hot air from the engine bay.

I actually just ordered one two minutes ago. Now I hope it fits my car. I have the WARBIRD hood on my 1997 Trans Am. It should fit right. Here is a pic of the hood.
