Default Whats the difference?

It might sound dumb but Oh Well!

What is the difference between 02 simms and 02 extensions? I have an idea, but I'm not sure so please clarify!

Which are generally used more? I am going to be installing my Pacesetters soon and need to buy either one. Also I have a 98 SS and which length should I buy?

Let me know Thanks!!

O2 extensions are just extensions to the wires themselves. Like an extension cord. Typically when a person installs a set of long tube headers the O2 sensors are "displace" farther back and need extra wire to be connected.

O2 similators or simms are fake O2 sensors that trick the computer into thinking it's receiving a real signal. They are primarily used as rear O2 (post catalytic) sensors when a person removes the cats and doesn't want the computer to throw a code.

o2 simms will basically trick the car into thinking that you still have the two rear o2 sensors. When you buy the Pacesetters they will only come with the bungs for the front two o2 sensors, so you have to get two o2 simms for the rear or get the code deleted via LS1edit or HPtuners. You will still use the front o2 sensors, so you have to buy two 24" o2 extentions for them.

I will be using a ORY no cats so I should get 02 Simms correct? Those being for the bottom bungs and I will reuse the stock 02's fot the top correct.Or wrong?

Yep, if you are staying with stock manifolds and just swapping Y's. If you go to longtube headers you'll need extensions too.

You will hook up the sims to the rear O2 wires and ziptie them out of the way.

can holes be drilled and bungs welded in (LTs w/o cats) to install the rear o2's instead of getting sims?

I guess you could? but to me it would not be worth the trouble. Especially when you can pick up a pair of simms for cheap.

While you can easily weld O2 bungs in the ORY, the problem is trying to use rear O2's without of simms. They will cause the computer to throw a catalytic DTC since the cats are gone. You need simms.

Like Lithium said.....probably more trouble than it's worth. You can always try to find someone with HPTuners or Edit to delete the codes.

They might do it for cheap...........There are a few of us down in Charleston that went in on HPT. We charge $50 to delete all codes and any other minor things needed. Still cheaper than O2sims. (too far to help ya but it's just an example).

just find the front o2 sensors, then follow that back till you see the rear o2's. They are really easy to find.
