Default 2.5" True Duals vs. 3inch y pipe ?

Ok, i am putting on Pacesetter LT's, i have a 3 inch ORY that i was goin to hook up to my SLP Loudmouth, possibly weld a muffler in where the resonator is,
or
Custom 2.5" true duals. A buddy of mine can custom fab up the true duals for me, but can only go up to 2.5. Would the true duals flow better than a 3 ORY + slp lm??

i was also considering a cut out on the I of the y pipe, but i was told to just put em right after the headers b4 the pipe merged.

any input is appreciated

Trick question?

Depends on the cross-over though. If it's an X, you want to match the cross-over size with the header collector size - for best results.

I'm a little bit ahead of you but same problem. I have the same set, just had a DynoMax 18" bullet muffler welded in place of the resonator. I would say that I feel more low end power (under 2500rpm) then with the fakeinator in there. Also I can actually talk to someone in the car at rpms less then 3500. It sounds less raspy like if just the LM was on pre headers but then still has WOT sound of the straight through setup.

If the ground clearance on TEXAS Speed and Performance true dual system was good enough on a lowered (Prokit) camaro I would say that two bullet mufflers would sound and perform real good but at $410 plus shipping I have spend my money on gears and an install kit rather give you my opinion on the sound and performance of true duals.

well if i go with the true duals, i'll have a 3 ory and a SLP LM to put up for sale, so i'm not worried about the money aspect, my only concern is power, i'm just afraid that the exhaust is going to get choked up going from the 3 inch collector on the LT to the 2.5" piping.

so i would want to have the 2.5" piping to go a 3 inch X and then back out to my 2.5" ? is there a site where i can purchase the X portion?
