If you have the $$ and plan on more moding Get hp tuner. If not sims will do the job. When I first bought Hp tuner I was a little nervious about spending 500$$, since then I have used it many times and I let a friend use it on his Z too. It was one of my best mods.
I'm doing a header install soon, and dont have the money for HPtuners, i was hoping to find someone with hptuners to delete the o2/AIR/EGR codes as an alternative to buying sims.
How much do you think a shop would charge just to delete all the codes? I'll have to find a shop that can do it near me.

I think its around 50 bucks for a shop to delete the codes. I am not real sure on that though. Anyway you can always buy the simms and when you get a tune sell them. Thats what I am planning to do atleast.
how much are sims? If they're more than the amount to have a shop do it (or a kind local fellow to do it for FREE) then i probably won't get sims. I dont know if i feel like dealing with buying something and expecting to sell it later.

I am doing a conversion on my el camino now to a 5.3L and I talked to the guy at www.wait4meperformance.com he said if I just needed codes deleted (rear o2`s, air, egr, etc.) that it should cost $30.00

i think sims are 80 bucks not 100% sure tho. the shops around here in bay area CA charge $100 to delete codes. I think you should find soemone on a local board that will let you borrow the program to delete your codes.
