If they're not leaking, why bother replacing them?

taintedmeat is right, if they're not leaking, don't change them. When they do leak, go with GM gaskets, part number 12558573.

Sorry, forgot to mention I'm pulling the heads to replace lifters. I didn't think you could reuse them.

reuse the stockers, or a new set of GM replacements.

From the sounds of things, he's got the paper gaskets that came with the headers.

Excuse, not trying to hijack the thread. Just ordered pacesetter headers. Would you guys suggest reusing the stock gaskets? I've got a high mileage engine, but money is at a premium right now. Don't want any leaks, though.
Thanks
Gerald

If it has high mileage I wouldn't use them. You may get away with it but I wouldn't risk the leaking.

Reuse the stock ones, or buy new GM metal gaskets. I am currently installing my 3rd set of headers on an LS1 car, all of which I reused the stock gaskets with zero issues. Twice on my own two vehicles, and currently wrapping up the install on a buddies.
