Floorboard knock, A/C compressor, and exhaust Qs
#1) For some time now when going over small bumps at medium+ speeds, or while in 1st and accelerating hard then letting off (causing car to lurch forward), I get a knocking sound under what appears to be the passenger floorboard. I have looked under there and I havent been able to find anything that looks like it is hitting, I even tried strapping the joint of the y pipe to the exhaust tube to the tranny xmember to see if that was it, and it still does it. What could this be?
#2) I am pretty sure my A/C compressor went out, I had to take the belt off because when running the clutch feels like it is about to melt, and it is making a sort of metal on metal noise. How much should a shop charge to diagnose this, and if it is the compressor, how much should I be looking at (parts+labor) to fix it?
#3) I have stock manifolds, and flowmasters right now. I need a new exhaust (mine is rusted up), but I want something that sounds better than the flowmasters without having to buy LTs. I will probably get a deal on new flowmasters, but my question is, can you put a cutout right after the y-pipe, or before the muffler, and would it sound good without LTs?
Sorry for the long post, hope someone can help with any of these
1) I don't know
2) A respectible shop should give you a free estimate, or apply the estimate fees to the repair, or you could look up all the part numbers and do it your self.
3) you can have the cut out installed just about anywhere, granted the stock left side y - pipe probably wouldn't work too well. Should sound nice and loud with a cut out.
