I got a k&N. For 50 bucks I said why not. I needed to change the filter anyways. I would get it if I were you.
BTW gas prices here are $2.87 for supreme. Good thing I don't drive a lot.

Two things I do not like with the K&N vs a Holley filter. First, they tried to kill two birds with one stone by making one filter work with two different cars. You have to use a jippy-*** gasket on your Lid because the actual filter gasket is too thin. I actually had to whittle up another, thicker gasket because the supplied one was too thin and leaked.

Secondly, the K&N has less actual filter media vs the Holley because the K&N has about a 1/2 inch of unuseable filter media all the way around due to the gasket rubber wicking into the filter media.

Unless you have a legitimate reason to run a oiled filter {like you have your baffles removed on your WS6 and your filter gets wet when it rains}, it really isn't worth the hassles and price.

Oh, and sorry, no Civic for me. If you like them that's cool too, I guess.

Nope not at all, I can care less how many miles a gallon I get. Yes it is nice to say that my car still gets 25+ gallons on the freeway. But I dont worry about it, all I know is that I bought a muscle car and I am constantly putting gas in it. As far as the civic goes, I never said I liked them or ever have. However, there are civics out there that are faster than both of our cars. So I would not call them . I was just using that car as a reference
Sorry if I hijacked the thread with my first post.

if you have the free ram air mod like i do, you will have to clean your k&n every two months b/c the thing gets nasty!!! i cleaned mine and started having maf trouble with it so i took it back out and put a paper filter back in and said forget it. there is no need to spend the money for a k&n. i will stick to paper from now on.

- i just got back from vaca in destin. took the car, put bout 700 miles on it for the whole trip there and back plus driving in destin. gas prices were outrageous going around 2.60/ gal but didnt bother me at the time. filled up twice and then some, so i went about 700 somthing on around 35 gallons. do the math that equals around 20 miles/ gal.
-= about to put in new spark plugs and new o2 sensors so mpg should increase little
- 20 mpg for the trip included smoking gt tiburon who thought he was fast, pulling past 05 gt stang, passing porsche turbo, and a few other races around destin...

HA! I drive my Z28 because it gets better mileage than my 4x4! I'm really doing great getting 19 mpg rather than 10. I'm tickled pink.

On the other hand, my Harley gets 40.

But, if I wanted good gas mileage I wouldn't have bought the truck OR the Camaro...

I don't see that a K&N got me significantly better mileage than a paper filter. However, I may go back to a paper filter - I did that FRA mod and the filter gets pretty dirty now. Throwing away a paper filter sure looks good. But cleaning the K&N isn't that expensive.

It's almost a toss-up. I guess I'll have to think on it some more.
