water pump wear

water pump wear is it normal for the belt to wear the black paint off the water pump exposing the bare metal where it makes contact? i noticed thats the case around 48K miles now???

yeah its normal, its the uneven wear you hafta watch for. I noticed mine was wearing unevenly, a few days later it started to leak, then the water pump went out on me.
