Default Differnce Between 1-3/4" & 1-5/8" Headers?

Curious on what the signifigant difference between the two diameters is....other than the fact that one's larger than the other. Does the 1-3/4" flow better or something due to more volume inside the tube. Does it matter whether the headers are shorties or LT's?

LTs for sure , don't bother with shorties. . . not a significant difference between manifolds and shorties.

From what I understand the smaller the primary tube (within reason) the more TQ your motor will have in a given rpm range but may suffer in peak HP. A larger diameter primary tube may give you more peak HP but a little less TQ than a slightly smaller primary tube. Length of tubes play a role in this also...

... night and day difference between shorties and LT's. I went the 1 5/8' shorty route and it cost me dearly. If you don't need to be C.A.R.B./emissions compliant, don't do shorties. I should have listned to jrp and went with LT's to begin with. I love my MAC's though.
