Engine will turn over, won't start... Been having trouble getting the car started lately. It takes several turns of the key (10-15), but it will start eventually. Thing is, it turns over fine, just won't start. I've noticed that once I get the car started and let it get hot, it starts a lot easier after that (usually on the first try, although it will still turn over a few times before firing). Anyone have any ideas what might be causing this? I haven't changed the fuel filter in a little while (which I'll do shortly), but I don't think that would have anything to do with it since, like I said, it starts better once warm. Any ideas would be appreciated...
tap on it while you are trying to start it. well, it would be easier to have someone else tap on it

If your car turns over fine it wouldn't be the starter. Change the fuel filter. Check your fuel pressure. Sometimes a bad fuel pressure regulator will cause extended crank time. Also weak spark. Usually when a regulator goes bad you can tell a difference when it gets warm. If you had a flat spot in your starter then the hammer trick would work but in this case it isn't.
