Borla I've heard the Ls1's like back pressure, so I get the idea to put the small plate in my borla to ake the exhaust run through the muffler more and not so much straight out. Would this make or take awy horsey power???
backpressure is confused with velocity. you want zero backpressure. that means the exhaust is having issues getting the exhaust gases out. what you want is an exhaust system with the proper diameter pipes to keep low speed velocity up and not hinder top end performance. here's my example. i took the borla 3" adjustable catback with small plate in off the wife's car and replaced it with the bassani 2.5" tru duals here's the dyno results. it's all about proper sizing. the borla, while a nice system, did pretty good on the lower rpms. but, in the upper rpms, it got to the point it couldn't handle the amount of gases and velocity needed to evacuate the gases out.
