Old guy header install completed (long)
In spite of mucho Blaster lubing for 2 weeks, 1 nut on each manifold stud would not come off even after heating, and then eventually rounded (leaving cat attached). Dropped drivers' side out no probs. Pass side had to grind off nut w/die grinder and stones (couldn't find a mount for cut off discs locally).
Got headers into place w/the gracious help of my wife being the ground person. Zipped up drivers' side quickly, but busted EVAP solenoid valve somehow.
Did not need to unbolt steering linkage.Passenger side I started all bolts a few threads (stock bolts) and noticed 3 appeared not to be threading in straight. Dropped header and used lots of Blaster and threaded bolts in/out several times until satisfied the threads weren't FUBAR, but 3 seemed to almost "bottom" out. Gave up on those 3 and used 3 of the shorter bolts provided w/the pacesetters, although I now needed a 7/16th along with the 10mm to sequence torque them.
Installed O2s and extensions. Then 3 piece ORY using SS band clamps. My fractured foot is killing me so I took a pain pill or 2 and a generous helping of gin & grapefruit and fired the car up. Flashing MIL, pulled out Autotap and determined #8 plug wire got lost in the shuffle. Attached, refired & all is good except catback seems a little longer than before.
So, WTH, headers & Y pipe will work for now. Drove to work & back these last 2 days with my new "NASCAR" exhaust and hopefully will solve the catback issues tomorrow. This provided for your viewing amusement. I'm going to have another gin now.
Yeah, the new jack I bought really helped me out. It's a Pro-Lift, was only about 86 bucks at Advance.
