Default UnderDrive pullyies

I was wondering are underdrive pullies worth having or should i just stick with original? I have a 98 SS 6speed with exahaust, wisper lid and granitelli maf no other mods what you guys think? And do they have any other problems that go with them if I do decide to go for them?

I was told be Ed Wright (who is supposed to be the top f-body tuner in the nation) not to use the pullies. He said he has seen several occasions in which they have cause instand power loss at certain RPM. It is however hit & miss with this situation. Some people have those problems while others never do. Just as with switching the MAF out.

There were some KR issues with older pullies that was causing power loss. The SLP pulley and maybe others now, do not have this issue and do not cause power loss. An underdrive pulley is a great mod for these cars.

ASP pullies are pretty popular. Can't go wrong with one of those.

A pulley makes more sense than a granatelli MAF

Its one of those deals you have to be on a dyno to really notice the difference, but every bit helps. I would do them again without the alt pulley.

I am happy with my ASP pulley, the car definitely revs faster. Its a good mod to have.

I picked up a full tenth at the 1/8 mi. track that I race on, however, I may be taking mine off because the car steers very hard at idle speed.

It's so freaking hard to steer while parking in tight spots that I think it's coming off unless somebody can help me figure out what the hell is going on.

My wife can barely park the damn thing, it's a joke. Definetly not worth the bullshit for me. The turn signals work very slow and the vert top is very slow also, it's embarrasing at times.

I vote for ASP pulley. They can give you about a 5-10rwhp gain. I know I wouldn't of broken 400rwhp without a ASP pulley. Can't say how much of a difference it made on my car alone, because I added the ASP pulley, ported TB, and fm14 cam all at once.

ive had an ASP for yrs.

it has some discharging at idle with everything on.thats AC blasting with my rear defroster going but it reads normal when im moving.

i notice a very very slight difference when trying to turn the wheel when i first start it.even then its not all the time and no big deal.

overall its a great mod for the money imo.
