Default Headers, Ceramic coating, heat tape, questions

I've read in alot of places that people suggest getting ceramic coated LT's, which makes sense, but many peal and flake after several months, is it really worth it after the coatings goes to crap, or would it work to buy uncoated and wrap them w/the heat tape, any suggestions?

I went with the coated Pacesetters. It will help keep the temps down as well. Also I have had my headers for half a year now. They have very little rust and no pealing. Its probley because I am in Cali, not much over here that can ruin them.

What function does the coating serve other than keeping the engine bay cooler than uncoated? Would the heat tape idea be functional or is there something im missing? Thanks for any help

I have had my Hooker LT's for over two yeras now and have no pealing of my coating. Heat tape is functional but I think most people like the looks of the ceramic coated header's as opposed to the old school hot rod look to the engine bay. It's personal preference, not a performance issue.

Hmm, well i really dont care what it looks like, its not a show car. so it would be about the same w/uncoated heat taped headers vs. coated?

Heat kills power and rust looks bad.

Another issue with tape on headers is trapped moisture. Humid and/or rainy climates and tape do not mix, next thing you know is there are rust-thru's in your tubes.
