Torco Mach accelerant is the only octane booster I have found that does a darn thing. (in my old turbo Omni at least.) When the pumps around here stopped carrying 104 no lead, I tried many different brands of store-bought octane booster, everything I tried did no good, it sounded like someone was under the hood of my car with a hammer beating on the block under boost.

I called Torco and asked where I could get 104, they said they were about a month away from releasing their 104 Mach accelerant. It was worth the wait. The Omni actually made about 15 more horsepower with that mixed with 93, than it did when I ran pump 104.

BTW, the Omni typically turned 110 mph trap speeds but I bought 104 octane at Milan dragway and the car slowed to 106 mph until I was finally able to burn all that stuff out of the tank. with Mach accelerant, traps increased to 111-112 mph

A 1/4 can of Torco should easily get a tank of 91 up to 94 (that's about $3 or 25 cents a gallon for a 12 gallon fill).

Default No worries

My T/A doesn't make any less power with 92 octane as it does with 93

This quote is from the same thread.

"Here is a test that one magazine did on the Torco Accelerator added to 94 octane gas against 114 octane race gas. Even though the race gas made more HP, it was only 10 HP more and at twice the price according to the article.

The instrutions they had on the bottle say:

For 97 octane, treat 20 gallons of 93
For 104 add 2 cans to 20 gallons

They had a 15 gallon tank and used 2 cans in it to make a estimated 105-106 octane.

If anyone wanted to know what the test car was, a 87 mustang with the following mods: 306 using R 302 block, AFR 185 heads, X-303 camshaft, 75 lb injectors, victor 5.0 intake, Western motorsports DFI, Paxton Novi making 21 lbs of boost, spearco air-to-air intercooler, and full exhaust."
Whoa, fella. I would have read the article, but it wouldn't load. I'm sure torco is a good booster for track use and race performance applications. However, the point of this thread was lack of 93 octane. If you were to take 87 octane and add the required amount of torco to get 93, it would cost 50 dollars for a total of 15 gallons. The equivalent amount of pump 93 would cost 44 dollars. If you were to take 92 and add the required amount of torco for 15 gallons of 93 (3.84oz, very little), it would cost 45 dollars versus 44 dollars for straight 93 (assuming 2.93 for 93 and 2.90 for 92). A dollar per fill up wouldn't be so bad but that price does not include shipping of the torco or any of the extra cost in time and such to measure out less than 4 oz every time you fill up. I don't think it's worth it. But these cars were designed around 91 octane so I wouldn't worry about not having 92 or 93. I think a slight tuning change would be more cost effective than trying to put 4 oz of booster in the tank every fillup.

BTW, their math is a little off. Following the instructions to make 97 that you posted above, torco octane must be 417. To make 104, it's 544. That's a pretty big swing.
