Exclamation Guys with UD Pullies - IN!

Seems like most of the local LS1s with U/D pullies have issues with throwing belts - Why?

I'm likely going with a Powerbond, and the belt will be shorter since it won't be turning a smog pump.

Any insight as to the cause of belt-throwing, and any way I can eliminate this issue? I'd rather not have to re-install a belt while out on a date, etc...

The car will see ~6800rpm at the strip, rev limiter is set to 7k.

i dont think it is neccessarily the pulleys fault as driver error is, i mean some people dont really know what they are doin when it comes to pulleys considering you have to check the tension and all that. when you buy a underdrive pulley you may want to get a new tensioner pulley as well to kind make sure the tension will be good and secure.

From what i've seen it's mainly due to not having the new pulley all the way seated on the crankshaft hub. Follow the proper procedure for installing the crank pulley, make sure it is all the way seated and the pulleys line up perfectly. Use the correct length belt and no problems should be had. ASP here 2 years no lost belts.

I had an ASP pulley and had no issues throwing belts. A Katech tensioner might help a little.

I couldn't tell how much the pulley was worth because I did heads and cam at the same time, but they have been shown to produce a consistent 10rwhp ish gain.

No smog pumps. I didn't really notice anything from the pulley really, but my SOTP meter is very very bad. I think the minimum power increase for me to feel would be like 25rwhp.

I've had an ASP on since 2001 with no issues. It was kind of a pain to install, but a good mod nonetheless...

Huh? The air pump isn't belt driven on our cars.

Both ASP and Powerbond make good pullies. I like the Powerbond better though.
