Default LT1 Vs LS1 mufflers

what the hell is the difference??

I have an LT1 right now but i'm swapping in an LSx. I have factory exhaust which lets me sound like a modded v6 ... so i'm really looking into some exhaust... unlike most things between the LT1 and LS1 the exhaust is different but i'm not sure what?? any help please?

i'm assuming you have an lt1 motor and exaust? and u want to put an ls1 exaust on it? if u heard the 2 cars side by side they would sound different because of the motor more than the exaust so its hard to compare. dont know about the inside of the muffler but its probably designed the same. i wouldn't up-grade just for sound unless u get the SS or ws.6 exaust because they flow a little better. but if ur exaust is going to **** and u have a ls1 exaust layin around, put it on. i dont know if this helps but im not following completly.

Well..... manifolds/headers are different.

I doubt the mufflers are any different. The LT1 sounds deeper/better IMO.

maybe I should start over..

I have an LT1... however I will be swapping in an LS6... I can't figure out why the LS1 mufflers are different than the LT1 mufflers... so my question is what is the difference... and If i want to get some aftermarket exhaust (muffler)for my LT1 until I get my LS6 complete can I use an LS1 muffler? I dont' want to buy a muffler and have to replace it in 6 months cuz it doesn't flow correctly and I don't want to put something on now that will sound like *** and produce a power loss to my LT1.

The LT1 mufflers are 2.5 inches at the inlet and 2.0 inches at the outlets. The LT1 muffler is about 5 inches shorter than the Standard LS1 F-body (Z28, T/A, Formula) muffler. The LS1 SS and WS6 muffler is short like the LT1 muffler but has a 2.5 inch inlet and 2.5 inch outlets. The diameters are at the actual inlet and outlet of the mufflers. The I-pipe going into the muffler is 2.75 inches and reduces down to a 2.5 inch diameter going into the muffler. The tailpipes on all LT1 and LS1 are 2.25 inches but reduce down to 2.0 inches going into the muffler. The LS1 SS and WS6 are 2.75 inch tail tailpipes and reduce down to 2.5 inchs going into the muffler.
