Default "X" or "Y" Pipes

Sup everyone... Can anyone tell me the difference between "x" and "y" pipe exhausts? Are they just different styles on exhaust or is there a performace difference between them?

X pipe has two inlets and two outlets
Y pipe has two inlets and one outlet

usually people make more hp w/ the X pipe setup but the torque isnt as high as w/ a Y pipe setup

the Xpipe is synonymous w/ "true duals"
sounds badass but your clearance sucks

Ypipe's usually fit much better though due to the way the undercarriage is formed for the F-bodies
