Question TSP True Dual Owners - Drone?

Tried the Search but didn't find a definitive answer.

I'm cammed and have Pacesetter race LTs fed into a TSP True Dual setup with 18" bullets.

At 1800-2000 RPMs, the car drones terribly. This isn't a big deal when getting off of a stop light and running through the gears, but on the highway in 6th gear from 75-80mph is terrible, and long. To the point that my girlfriend said "Oh My God that sounds like ****!" and she knows absolutely nothing about cars.

Is this normal, or am I having some sort of unique issue?

I have heard a lot of true dual setups, most have been with 224 or 228 cams with longtubes and true duals with the dynomax bullets and they didnt have much drone if any. However, your cam is a LOT larger than my buddies and you might want to think of maybe throwing a couple of carsound cats into your setup or switching mufflers to the sweet thunders or the pro-flo twisters. I cant say ive heard these on any cars so i dont know from personal experience but it seems thats what most of the board has been doing to quiet down their true dual dynomax bullet set-ups. Hope that helps and goodluck!

Not looking to necessarily quiet it down, just hush the drone. Any others?

Might wanna think about running them out the back. I've heard that helps alot.

Also make sure your turndowns are pointed out at like a 45 degree angle or so. If they dump straight down towards the ground the drone will be really bad.

Realistically, thats never going to happen. Not one single exhaust shop in a 300 mile radius has a mandrel bender.

They are. Both are "dumped" toward the wheels, not straight down.

Is anyone else familiar with this issue?

I thinkit has a lot to do with your choice of mufflers. Try switching to the Borla XR-1s. I've heard they are pretty decent as far as drone is concerned.

DreamState23x, do yours drone at all?

The mufflers may very well be at fault. Are any of these comparable mufflers louder/quieter than the bullets?

When I had my TSP duals on my car, the drone at highway speeds was pretty bad. It gave my g/f a headache if we were at those speeds for a long time. And yes, I had mine pointed at a 45 degree angle. I guess it's just the nature of the beast. I went back to a catback set-up and haven't looked back. Although, I do miss that beautiful WOT sound.

You may want to switch to Flo Pro Twisters or Moroso Spiral Flows. Those are quieter then the Bullets. I'm not cammed, but the 75-80 drone is minimal. I would call it resonance instead of a drone. It's not annoying like droning would be.

Get you some mandrel bent pipe and rent or buy a welder, and fab it out the rear and the sound will be behind you. Or do some sound deadening like i did, on the floor. The bullets do flow the best.

Sweet Thunders are quieter. TSP's dual system is alumnized. I thought it was stainless too, but it is not.

At least I'm not the only one with the 75-80 "resonance". Since the bullets flow the best, I guess I'll be putting up with it and giving the GF a set of earmuffs as a condolence gift.

Try pointing the turndowns toward eachother.

That's just what you are going to get with dumped bullets. Get some Sweet thunders and weld them in their place. I think you will be pleased. That's what I did.
