Use one Catalytic Converter on Y pipe?
Heres a dumb question but I am curious...
If I am having a high flow y pipe made and want to use a high flow catalytic converter can I put a single high flow cat at the end of the Y pipe instead of using two? Would this help or hurt exhaust flow using one instead of two?
Thanks,
Lane

Im not sure about emmissions but it will hurt performance. W/ 2 converters each only gets exposed to half the exaust. But w/ 1 converter you would be running all the exhaust through 1 converter which would be ALOT more restrictive.

It will restrict the flow, but it will pass a visual, as long as you have a cat they shouldnt worry. When a state trooper pulled me over he only looked for one, but I didnt have any, lol.

Cats are pretty much useless that far back, they don't get hot enough to work properly. Technically, the cats have to be in their stock location, it all depends on how **** the person looking is.
