Default Catch Can w/o PCV

I've done the search and read I don't know how many posts but haven't seen the set up I'm thinking about using. It's a 98 LS1. Any input appreciated.

To allow ventialtion out I plan to run tubes from rear of passenger and driver side valve covers to a catch can that has a breather top. There will be no PVC between the valve covers and catch can. Since it's a breather top no use running vacumn line to it either. Plan to keep existing line that allows air into front of the passenger side valve cover.

My biggest question, will this provide enough ventilation without any vacumn? Concerned that the extra length of tube required will allow more pressure than normal. Originally thought about using a breather type cap on the covers themselves but I know how they grunge things up.

I tried that earlier this year and had quite a bit of issues. In order for that breather system to work, your vent tubes from your valve covers will need to be about 1.75 to 2 inches in diameter. When I tried it with regular 3/8 and 1/2 in lines, the crankcase pressure would push it's way out from the valve cover gasket and the seal around my vent tubing. I highly recommend connecting into a vacuum source. If you run a breather style system get one with a pcv built into it. This will help with keeping things cleaner. Be sure to tap into your intake BEFORE the mass air flow sensor. Another thing I've seen work well is dual pcv valves to catch can to intake with an inline filter between the catch can and intake manifold. Obviously, this last way, you'll need to connect your vacuum source AFTER the mass air flow sensor.
