Default SLP install ( LID - fuse )

Do I have to really remove the fuses?
It says to do it in the install university page, however I have heard that it isn't really needed. If so, i don't know where the fuses are.

What the heck are you talking about? Remove the fuses for what? Anyways...the fuses are in two seperate boxes on the driver's side underneath the hood.

You don't need to, I think they're talking about how to reset the PCM if you leave the key on/try to start the car with the sensors unplugged. Turn the car off, leave the keys in your pocket, install lid, make sure sensors are plugged in, start car...

why would I need my car on to install the lid? I was just gonna pop the hood and put it in, then start it.

You don't want the car/key on - just install the lid and you'll be fine. Turning the key on or trying to start the car with the sensors unplugged might throw a SES light, removing the fuses just resets the light/PCM.

If the sensor/grommet are tough to remove try a couple drops of liquid dishwashing soap - rinse and dry before using.

I just put the new lid on with the cai and 85mm maf without doing any sort of fuse pulling or PCM reset. No problems. Cool on the first mod, have fun! Take a look at the SLP Cold Air Induction (CAI), too. Shoot, I think bought the whole 400HP Perf Pack one piece at a time before they had packs. You'll get a good boost from the CAI, 85mm MAF, and Loudmouth exhaust. I did my Long Tube Headers (LTs), High FLow Cats, and Predator tune all at the same time, and it rocks now for stock heads and cam. You would not believe how it sounds at WOT

Well, I just completed my SLP lid mod.

It was fun. Easy too. The only thing that gave me a lil trouble was removing the gormet, however ( call me stupid ) I thought that the gormet was only a ring ( the lip that you see protruding around the sensor ) so for 15 mins I tried to get it off, and I couldnt figure out why it wasn't coming off

then I just popped the sensor out, almost my accident, and the removed the gormet with stupid ease ( shoulda took me 1 minute, instead it took 15 )

My results?

I found MUCH better throttle response. I don't think I noticed any power gains, but man, was I ever happy with the throttle response. It seemed to wake up the car. I am amazed at how restrictive the OEM lid is. What a piece of ... of . . . pure restriction, forged from pure restrictive material.

My next problem? I need more mods. It was fun, and I want more. . . . like full exhaust? Yesss. This will be good. *cheers*

Just unhook the Neg terminal of the battery before you do anything.

glad to hear it worked out well; yeah a lid is definitely a must do. I put my stock one back on a while ago for some warranty work, and it totally killed the power.

btw, it's "grommet"
