Default Silly Question

Well,where do I start,
I have had my woes with a all 3 inch side exit true dual exhaust. Bottom line is I am to plan B. I need to change the exhaust around. I already have 3 inch collectors, and 3 inch high flo cats. What would happen if I went down to 2.5 inch the rest of the way back to maintain the true duals? Would it mess up my sound, and more importantly my flow? Would it make more sence to stick to all 3 inch but use a Y pipe, and I pipe and do a more stock set up?

Input would be great, whatever is going to be done on Tuesday.

It's really your preference. 2 1/2 duals will be plenty of flow and will affect your sound slightly, 3" with an I pipe will be fine for flow and will affect the sound also.

The only thing I want to avoid is high pitched sound or a raspy sound. I know doing the 3 in Y/I combination will all around quiet the car down. Not sure what going from 3 to 2.5 will do to be honest.
