Default Just Installed Hooker CB

Got her installed but haven't driven the car yet. This exhaust is QUIET, even with a cam. It's almost hard to tell that the car is cammed. Going from the LM to this is quite a shock. I can't imagine that my car can possibly be as fast as it was. Will I lose hp going from the Loudmouth to this? It's hard not to equate loudness with hp, but the Hooker has fatter pipes, 3 inchers.

I kind of like it, still in shock though. I feel the car is very civilized sounding now, but hopefully a wolf in sheep's clothing. I'm not afraid of the inspection station now, which was the purpose of making this change. The LM sure was NASTY though.

Hooker is quiet but one of the better flowing catbacks out. I've seen several people dyno the same with cutout vs's Hooker. I think you'll find that when you get on it, there will be more noise. Friend of mine had the hooker, LT's, ORY, cam and it sounded sick at idle....Good luck with the setup..

Thanks Kevin, glad to hear the good news. It does sound good at idle compared to stock, but compared to the LM it's a pussycat. It sounds good revved, refined. I think I'm going to really like it for a change. I won't have to look over my shoulder as much.

Just to add, it seems I lost some of my lope at idle. Oh well, at least I should be able to legally drive it, a good trade off.

if you want the loping noise you could always add a cutout on the i-pipe. No big deal. That's what I did

My Hooker got alot louder after about 200 miles. Its still quiet idling but it gets loud as heck under heavy throttle. Lay your door down in the hatch area while your driving and you can hear it good.

Dont be shocked if you have ORY and you hear it rasp under heavy throttle at 2500 rpms and then it will go away just before 3000.

I've been running the Hooker c/b for over a year now.I put a 3" cutout in the I -pipe.I gained 3 hp with the cutout open.Others have gotten similiar results. It flows good for the price.I've also been running the Hooker Y and headers since they came out a few years ago and been thru alot of different cat-backs.I like this setup the best.Like someone else said,it will get louder with some miles on it.I havnt had any drone and I've got probably 5-6000 miles on it.

I just added Lt's and what Jet Hot calls cats to it. Sounds awesome.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm not unhappy, just shocked at the difference from the LM.

This cat back really fits well too, even the tips are perfectly centered. I might take an inch off the length though, but it looks good as is. Nice product, and great bang-for-the-buck!

Yeah, cut the pipes that go to your bumper down some, otherwise they stick out too far. I love how mine sounds. Not too loud at idle, but sounds good at wot. The cam im getting in this week (hopefully) is bigger than yours, I hope it lopes. 232/234 .595/.598 112

Like others said, add a cutout if you want the noise back.

Matt, even with the bigger cam, I suspect the Hooker CB (Aerochamber) will civilize it.

I think you'll be happy with the sound though.

Just a little update. I had a chance to put about a hundred miles on the new Hooker exhaust and I'm very happy with it. Not too quiet, not too loud, perfect really. The car seems as quick as ever too. I would not hesitate to recommend a Hooker CB to anyone. Great price. Great fitment. Flows really well, and sounds really good.

Thumbs up all around!

Thats what I was thinking. WstSidHomE has a cam a little smaller than mine with hooker cb, and it sounds real good. Not TOO loud, but sure as hell not too quiet. Lopes real good, and sounds badass at WOT.

I have shorty headers and cats too, so I'm sure that makes a difference. Even so, after my hundred mile drive today, I think it sounds mint. Probably with LTs and no cats you'd have a better lope.

As much as I liked my LM, it was getting on my nerves a little, just too much. This Hooker CB is one of the best and smartest moves I've made.

It'll be tough to have a "nasty" lope with cats and the cam you have, but if you get rid of those cats you'll be able to hear it. The hooker screams at WOT

True, but I did have a nice lope with the LM exhaust.

I'm not going to push my luck until I see how the inspection goes. I'm sick of my car not being legal, it takes away a lot of the fun, always looking over my shoulder.

It does sound killer at WOT though, even with cats and shorties.

My car now doesn't annoy, but it still sounds like there's something serious under the hood.

Something else I noticed today, with the LM, chicks would give me dirty looks and turn away. Today there were a few hotties tailgating me. When I went to the gas station, this gorgeous chick pulled in right behind me. This is the real reason I'm loving this Hooker cat back. Chicks don't seem to like obnoxious exhausts, but they like to hear enough sound to know there's something under the hood. A fine line I tell ya. I've finally smartened up. I see the light!

Sorry dude, I sawzalled it behind the axle, and then I had to cut off one of the tailpipes to pull it out. My car was on Rhino ramps so I didn't have a lot of clearance to pull it out. I tried pulling it apart at first, but didn't have any luck.
